This watch brand was established in 1905, in London by Hans Wiledorf and his brother in low Alfred Davis. 1st name of this brand was Wilsdorf and Davis in 1905 that used up to 1908 but later it was registered as Rolex in 1908. Now, Rolex watches are known as status symbol.

There is no meaning of word Rolex in any dictionary because there is no word in any language, that describe it’s definition. Only reason to use the word ‘Rolex’ for this brand because it sounds expensive.
Word Rolex was just incidentally stuck in his mind while horse riding and it felt him very catchy, trustful and sounds branded so he used it.

First wristwatch was manufactured in 1910. Even, official rating centre awarded it as certificate of *chronometric precession(1st certificate given to any company) .
In 1926, Rolex made it’s first waterproof and dust proof watch and named it Oyesta. At that time, creating a waterproof watch was accepted as a huge achievement.
Date feature was added in Rolex watches in 1945.

To check the quality of this watch, it is given to the world's famous swimmer(Marsalis Geletje) and he swum almost 10 hours wearing this watch but after that watch was working excellently, no sign of damage was there. So next day, daily newspaper published this success quality of the watch on the front page of the newspaper.
In 1960, watch was sent to 100 meter deep in sea to check the quality and it passed the quality check very easily.
To increase quality or maintaining the convenience of the product, Rolex used to do various quality checks such as they give their watches to swimmers, bike racer, car racer, high aptitude mountain climbers and deep sea diver. Not only this, once the watch was fixed to the head of a submarine on it's outer surface and took it 200 meter deep but later it was declared watch is still working as it was before. This watch was also in excellent condition on Mount Everest and it is also checked in air crafts.
Once, USA sent the Rolex watch in 35,000 feet deep in sea to perform a quality test, but it cleared that test.
